Introduction: Gallstone disease affects millions worldwide, with over 70% of cases being asymptomatic, potentially leading to complications requiring hospitalization. Public knowledge, perceptions, and practices are crucial in guiding treatment decisions following diagnosis. This study aims to examine the community’s knowledge, perceptions, and actions regarding gallstone disease among families of patients in Malang. Methods: A cross-sectional survey employing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was conducted among caregivers at a tertiary hospital in Malang, Indonesia, from July to August 2023, to assess the relationships between knowledge, perception, and action regarding gallstone disease. Respondents were adults (≥18 years), literate in Indonesian, without mental disorders, and capable of completing the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares, with a significance level of p < 0.05. Result: Of the respondents, 600 were women and 469 were men. Most demonstrated good knowledge (60.1%), positive perception (88.7%), and positive action (88.2%) regarding gallstone disease. Significant associations were found between knowledge and action (p<0.0001), perception and action (p<0.005), perception and knowledge (p<0.0001), and action toward perception and knowledge (p<0.001). Conclusion: A linear relationship was identified between knowledge, perception, and action. Strengthening public knowledge is essential to promote better perceptions and actions, ultimately improving outcomes in gallstone disease.
