Abstract

Abstract: Insulting the president and officials in today's digital freedom era is truly ironic, therefore the purpose of writing this article is so that God's people can understand and be mature in acting regarding insults to the president and government officials. Using descriptive qualitative methods with a literature study approach, it can be concluded that God's true people must understand the definition and essence of insult in terminology. So that Christianity can provide a paradigm for freedom of expression in the digital era. So that God's people see and understand everything to use their mouths and fingers in comments, it is very embarrassing to insult the leadership of this nation. Because contempt in the theological study of the Christian Faith is very clear against all things against that humiliation. Of course, this basis carries the role of God's people in actualizing a wise opinion regarding insulting the President and the Government.

Review

This article tackles a highly relevant and contentious topic: the use of digital platforms to insult presidents and government officials, viewed through the lens of Christian theological ethics. The title, "Penghinaan terhadap Presiden dan Pemerintahan," directly addresses the subject matter, immediately signaling its focus. The abstract clearly states the article's purpose: to guide "God's people" (Christians) toward maturity and understanding in their conduct regarding insults to leadership, particularly in an era of digital freedom. This specific targeting of a religious audience provides a distinct framework for exploring freedom of expression, promising a unique contribution to the discourse on civic responsibility and digital ethics. The methodology employed, descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, is appropriate for an inquiry into theological and ethical principles. The abstract concludes that "God's true people" must grasp the theological definition and essence of insult, suggesting that Christianity offers a paradigm for understanding freedom of expression in the digital age. It asserts that Christian theological study unequivocally opposes such humiliation. While the abstract effectively outlines the article's persuasive goal—to encourage careful use of speech and avoid insulting leaders, instead focusing on policy criticism—it could benefit from a more explicit articulation of *what* constitutes this theological definition of insult and the specific tenets or scriptures that underpin this paradigm within the abstract itself. This would strengthen the methodological link between the literature study and the prescriptive conclusions drawn. Overall, the paper presents a timely and important discussion for its intended audience, providing a specific ethical framework for navigating complex issues of public discourse and respect for authority in the digital sphere. Its strength lies in its clear focus on integrating Christian faith principles with contemporary societal challenges. However, the abstract leans more toward an exhortation than a concise summary of analytical findings, which might lead a reviewer to seek more concrete theological expositions within the full text. For a specialized journal focusing on theology, ethics, or interdisciplinary studies touching on religion and digital communication, this article holds significant promise in offering guidance on wise and responsible conduct for believers.
