This paper presents a highly relevant and timely topic concerning medication adherence among the elderly, a critical aspect of public health, especially given the challenges faced by seniors due to declining memory and cognitive function. The authors address this by developing an Android-based medication reminder application specifically tailored for the needs of the elderly in Purbayan Kotagede. The use of the Prototyping method, emphasizing user involvement through observation and interviews during posyandu activities, is commendable. The design choices, such as a simple interface and no-login requirement, directly reflect a user-centric approach, which is crucial for digital literacy among the target demographic. The initial usability testing results, with a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 76.5, strongly indicate that the application is well-received and possesses good usability for its intended users. While the methodological approach is appropriate for application development, several aspects could be strengthened for broader impact. The sample size of 5 seniors for iterative testing and 10 for final black-box testing, though adequate for initial prototyping within a specific community, might limit the generalizability of findings to other populations or even a larger cohort within Purbayan Kotagede. Furthermore, while the paper effectively demonstrates the functional soundness and usability of the application, it stops short of assessing the ultimate goal: the actual improvement in medication adherence. The abstract does not fully detail the specific mechanisms of how user feedback from the two iterations with 5 seniors was systematically incorporated and prioritized, beyond a general mention of "menyempurnakan desain dan fungsi." This level of detail would provide greater transparency into the design refinement process. Despite these points, this research offers a valuable contribution to digital health interventions for the elderly. The developed application holds significant potential to empower seniors in managing their health independently and improving their quality of life. For future research, it would be highly beneficial to conduct a long-term, larger-scale deployment study to empirically measure the application's effectiveness in improving medication adherence rates and health outcomes among a broader elderly population. Exploring the sustainability model for the application, including ongoing technical support and potential updates, would also be crucial for its long-term success. Additionally, considering features like integration with family caregivers or local healthcare providers could further enhance its utility and impact. This work lays a strong foundation for future research in tailored digital health solutions for specific vulnerable populations.
