Abstract

sehari-hari. Biopori menjadi cara sederhana untuk melakukan pengelolaan air dan sampah organik. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman pentingnya menjaga lingkungan dengan meningkatkan daya resapan tanah dan pengelolaan sampah organik. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini memberikan pendampingan seperti pembuatan lubang resapan biopori, cara kerja, perawatan dan pengelolaan sampah organik menjadi kompos. Sasaran pendampingan ini adalah warga dan karang taruna Desa Kalibaru. Metode ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) digunakan dalam proses pelaksanaan pengabdian yang terdiri dari lima tahap, yaitu menemukan aset dan potensi, membuat impian, menyusun strategi, dan mewujudkan strategi. Pembahasan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa: 1) Memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman terkait pentingnya menjaga lingkungan sekitar, 2) Memperkenalkan biopori mulai dari pembuatan, alat dan bahan, cara kerja hingga manfaatnya, 3) Pendampingan membuat lubang resapan biopori, 4) Pendampingan pengelolaan sampah organik. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menghasilkan dua hal: 1) Peningkatan kesadaran dan pemahaman mengenai pentingnya menjaga kelestarian lingkungan sekitar, 2) Kepemilikan lubang resapan biopori untuk pengelolaan air dan sampah organik.

The primary objective of this project was to enhance community understanding regarding environmental protection through improved soil water absorption and effective organic waste management, specifically targeting both general residents and the local youth organization (*karang taruna*) within the village. The chosen intervention directly tackles critical environmental issues faced by communities, demonstrating clear relevance and practical application. The project adopted the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) methodology, which is a suitable and robust framework for community-centric initiatives, encompassing stages from asset identification and visioning to strategic planning and implementation. The execution involved a multi-faceted approach, commencing with educational sessions designed to impart knowledge on environmental stewardship and a comprehensive introduction to Biopori technology—covering its creation, necessary tools and materials, operational mechanics, and myriad benefits. Crucially, the program extended beyond theoretical instruction by providing hands-on assistance in the actual creation of Biopori infiltration holes and guiding participants in transforming organic waste into compost, ensuring active engagement and practical skill transfer within the target community. The outcomes reported indicate significant success in achieving the project's objectives. Firstly, there was a demonstrable increase in participants' awareness and understanding regarding the critical importance of environmental preservation and sustainable practices. Secondly, the project led to the tangible establishment and collective ownership of Biopori infiltration holes, which are now maintained by the community for both enhanced water management and organic waste processing. While the abstract clearly outlines the positive immediate impacts, future reports could further strengthen their findings by incorporating more quantitative data, such as the exact number of Biopori holes created, the volume of waste composted, or longitudinal qualitative feedback on long-term usage and perceived benefits, to more comprehensively substantiate the commendable results achieved. This initiative serves as an excellent model for impactful, community-driven sustainable development.
