Abstract

This study aims to help students become skilled in speaking in class III of SD IT Al-Hijrah 2 through the implementation of hand puppet media in the learning process. In its implementation, the development method (R&D) through the ADDIE model approach with five stages, namely needs analysis, media design process, development stage, field application, and assessment related to media effectiveness. Linguists, media, and material experts conducted validation, with the average results falling into the “very feasible” feasibility category. The pretest and posttest findings are at a significance value of 0.000, which is below the 0.05 threshold. This indicates that the media trial significantly improved students' speaking ability. Responses from teachers and students also said that this material was interesting and easy to use for education. The research findings show that the use of hand puppet media is not only practical but also successful in fostering an interesting and participatory learning environment and improving students' speaking skills. Review

This study presents a compelling case for the integration of hand puppet media to enhance speaking skills among Class III elementary students. The research clearly articulates its objective: to address a crucial skill gap in young learners through an innovative pedagogical approach. Utilizing a robust Research and Development (R&D) methodology guided by the systematic ADDIE model, the study meticulously progressed from needs analysis to media effectiveness assessment. The reported significant improvement in speaking ability, evidenced by a pretest and posttest significance value of 0.000, strongly supports the efficacy of this media. Furthermore, positive feedback from both teachers and students underscores its practical appeal and ease of integration into the learning environment. A key strength of this research lies in its methodical development and validation process. The application of the ADDIE model ensures a structured and comprehensive approach to media creation, from initial design to final implementation and evaluation. Expert validation by linguists, media specialists, and material experts, resulting in a "very feasible" categorization, provides robust assurance of the quality and pedagogical soundness of the hand puppet media. This rigorous validation, coupled with compelling quantitative data demonstrating a significant positive impact on speaking skills, lends substantial credibility to the study's findings and offers a well-substantiated argument for the benefits of this creative learning tool. While the abstract effectively highlights the positive outcomes and systematic approach, the full manuscript would benefit from a deeper exploration into the specific pedagogical mechanisms through which hand puppets facilitate speaking skill improvement. Detailing the types of interactive activities, the role of play in reducing speaking anxiety, or how the puppets encourage imaginative expression could further enrich the understanding of its effectiveness. Nevertheless, this study offers a highly practical and engaging solution for educators seeking to foster an interesting, participatory learning environment and significantly improve elementary students' oral communication abilities, making a valuable contribution to the field of early childhood education and learning innovation.
