Implementation of halal product assurance system on traditional cakes at umkm xyz gowa regency. Analyze SJPH implementation for traditional cakes at MSME XYZ Gowa. Uncover challenges like absent policies & audits, but strong owner commitment. Recommends audits & training for compliance.
This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) in traditional cake products at MSME XYZ in Gowa Regency. MSMEs play a crucial role in supporting the halal economy; however, the implementation is often hindered by a lack of resources and awareness of the importance of halal certification. The method used in this research is qualitative, which aims to describe, uncover meanings, and provide in-depth explanations of the phenomenon being studied. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques include data categorization, pattern identification, and consistency evaluation to produce comprehensive and accountable findings. The research results indicate that MSME XYZ faces several main challenges, such as the absence of halal policies, supporting documents for certain raw materials, and oversight mechanisms through audits. Nevertheless, the business owners demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining product halalness by using raw materials that are mostly halal-certified. This study recommends the implementation of periodic audits, strengthening raw material management, and providing training for MSME actors to improve compliance with halal principles.
This study presents a timely and relevant qualitative analysis of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) implementation within a traditional cake MSME in Gowa Regency. Given the significant role of MSMEs in the halal economy, the research effectively addresses a critical gap, particularly regarding the practical challenges faced by small businesses in achieving halal certification. The use of observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection provides a robust foundation for understanding the complex realities of SJPH adherence. A key strength lies in identifying both the systemic challenges, such as the absence of formal policies and oversight, alongside the commendable commitment demonstrated by the business owners towards maintaining product halalness through careful raw material selection. While the qualitative methodology is appropriate for in-depth exploration, the abstract could benefit from greater detail regarding its execution. For instance, information on the specific number of interviews conducted, the duration of observations, or the criteria used for documentation review would enhance the transparency and rigor of the data collection process. Furthermore, while data analysis techniques are mentioned, the abstract does not specify any theoretical or analytical framework used to evaluate the SJPH implementation. Applying a recognized SJPH model or a theoretical lens for analyzing the "absence of halal policies" and "oversight mechanisms" would strengthen the analytical depth beyond mere description, allowing for a more critical assessment of the system's shortcomings against established benchmarks. It is also unclear whether "halal policies" refer to internal MSME policies or broader regulatory requirements not being met. Despite these minor suggestions for methodological elaboration, the study offers valuable insights and practical recommendations crucial for fostering better halal compliance among MSMEs. The findings clearly articulate the need for external support, training, and structured internal processes, which are directly addressed by the recommendations for periodic audits, strengthened raw material management, and capacity building. This research serves as an important empirical contribution, shedding light on the ground-level challenges and opportunities for improving halal assurance. Future research could expand upon these findings by investigating the impact of implemented training programs or conducting comparative studies across various MSMEs to identify scalable solutions and policy interventions.
