Abstract

Review

The submitted abstract, titled "HUBUNGAN PERAN KELUARGA DALAM KEPATUHAN MINUM OBAT PADA PASIEN SKIZOFRENIA," addresses a highly pertinent and significant issue in mental healthcare: the role of family in improving medication adherence among schizophrenia patients. The background clearly establishes the critical need for adherence to prevent relapse, and appropriately identifies family support as a potential facilitator. The stated objective to "analyze articles and research regarding family support and medication adherence in schizophrenia patients" is clear, setting a reasonable scope for a literature-based inquiry. The chosen topic holds substantial clinical relevance, as understanding and leveraging family dynamics can greatly impact patient outcomes and reduce the burden of illness. While the topic's importance is well-established, the methodological approach described in the abstract raises several concerns regarding the robustness and comprehensiveness of the review. The reliance solely on Google Scholar as a database, coupled with the selection of only seven articles, suggests a potentially limited search strategy that may not capture the breadth of existing literature on this extensive topic. Critical details such as specific search terms, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and the nature of the "analysis" performed on these articles are absent, hindering an assessment of the review's rigor. Consequently, while the conclusion that "family support has a very influential relationship with medication adherence" is conceptually sound, the strength of this claim, particularly the "very influential" aspect, cannot be fully substantiated by such a restricted methodological base. The abstract also introduces patient self-awareness in the conclusion without clearly linking it to the findings from the reviewed articles, which could be seen as an extension beyond the scope of the stated objective. Despite the methodological limitations, the abstract effectively highlights the crucial role of family in managing schizophrenia and reinforcing medication adherence. The finding, though based on a limited literature set, reaffirms a generally accepted principle in psychiatric care. For future work, it would be beneficial to expand the search strategy to include multiple comprehensive databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO), employ more rigorous article selection criteria, and detail the analytical framework used to synthesize findings. This would allow for a more exhaustive and robust exploration of the topic, potentially identifying nuances in family dynamics, the efficacy of different support interventions, and the interplay with patient-specific factors like self-awareness. The manuscript, if expanded with a more rigorous methodology, has the potential to offer valuable insights for clinical practice and family-centered interventions in schizophrenia care.
