Abstract

O presente trabalho pretende averiguar a hibridização literária que se nota na obra As meninas (2008), texto de Agustina Bessa-Luís a respeito da pintora luso-britânica Paula Rego. Acreditamos que Bessa-Luís, no processo de elaboração do texto desse livro, lançou mão de, pelo menos, três discursos literários: o ensaístico, o biográfico e o fictício. Trata-se aqui de investigar esse imbricamento discursivo a partir da relação estabelecida pela própria romancista entre o seu texto e as diversas telas que ilustram o volume, focalizando os comentários de Agustina sobre a série A Menina e o Cão (1986), de Rego. Seguimos algumas diretrizes de leitura apontadas por Anamaria Filizola (2000) e Catherine Dumas (2002) no que toca às biografias, aos romances e a estética fictícia agustinianos, bem como o texto de Filizola (2009) sobre a obra aqui em análise. Assim, conseguimos identificar que a obra em questão apresenta a hibridização genológica como uma das características que Agustina Bessa-Luís utiliza em seus textos que versam a respeito de figuras históricas, nesse sentido, a autora utiliza de seu ofício de romancista para dar conta dos elementos biográficos de Paula Rego que são, segundo ela própria, sugeridos em seus quadros, os quais são analisados ensaisticamente pela escritora a fim de concebê-los numa diegese fictícia da vida da pintora.
