Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil praktik siswa dalam pembelajaran penataan sanggul tradisional, khususnya sanggul pingkan, yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan media pembelajaran konvensional seperti buku dan ceramah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas media pembelajaran video tutorial sanggul pingkan dalam meningkatkan hasil praktik siswa Tata Kecantikan di SMK Negeri 1 Beringin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuantitatif dengan desain One Group Pretest–Posttest, melibatkan 30 siswa kelas XI sebagai sampel. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi praktik dengan lima aspek penilaian, yaitu ketepatan hasil sasakan rambut, bentuk koip, bentuk kepangan, proporsi sanggul, dan peletakan ornamen. Data dianalisis melalui uji-t setelah memenuhi uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai pre-test 60 (kategori cukup) dan post-test 80 (kategori baik). Nilai t_hitung = 10,74 > t_tabel = 1,69 (α = 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan video tutorial efektif meningkatkan hasil praktik siswa secara signifikan. Penerapan media ini membuat proses belajar lebih interaktif, memudahkan pemahaman langkah-langkah teknis, serta meningkatkan keaktifan dan motivasi siswa. Dengan demikian, media video tutorial direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran praktik pada program keahlian Tata Kecantikan di SMK.

Addressing the common challenge of low practical outcomes due to limitations of conventional teaching methods like books and lectures, the research focuses specifically on the "Sanggul Pingkan." Through a quantitative experimental design utilizing a One Group Pretest–Posttest approach with 30 students, the study conclusively demonstrates that the integration of video tutorials significantly elevates students' practical performance, transitioning average scores from a "sufficient" to a "good" category. This paper makes a relevant contribution to vocational education, proposing a practical and effective pedagogical tool for developing complex manual skills. A key strength of this research lies in its clear problem identification and the direct applicability of its findings. The authors meticulously defined five specific assessment aspects for practical performance, providing a robust framework for evaluating skill improvement. The statistical analysis, employing t-tests after confirming normality and homogeneity, credibly supports the conclusion regarding the video tutorial's effectiveness. Beyond the quantitative improvement in scores, the study insightfully highlights crucial qualitative benefits, such as increased learning interactivity, simplified understanding of intricate technical steps, and enhanced student activity and motivation. These reported advantages underscore the holistic positive impact of the video medium on the learning process. While offering significant insights, the methodological choice of a "One Group Pretest–Posttest" design inherently presents a limitation in attributing causality. The absence of a control group makes it challenging to entirely rule out other confounding variables, such as natural learning progression, instructor influence, or the Hawthorne effect, from contributing to the observed improvements. Future research could substantially strengthen its internal validity by incorporating a control group to more definitively isolate the video tutorial's specific impact. Furthermore, expanding the study to include a larger and more diverse sample across multiple vocational schools or different traditional bun styles would enhance the generalizability of these promising results. Providing more detail on the duration of the intervention and incorporating qualitative feedback on student experiences would also offer a richer, more nuanced understanding of the learning process.
