Literary work is seen as a work created by the author by imitating or representing real life. This paper proposes an intriguing analysis of Okky Madasari's novel *Mata di Tanah Melus*, employing a mimetic approach to explore its relationship with real life in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The study sets out with clear objectives: to understand the novel through a mimetic lens, analyze its connection to the actual life in Belu Regency, and identify related phenomena and intrinsic elements within the text. This focus promises a valuable contribution by grounding the literary work in its potential socio-cultural context, thereby enriching the understanding of the novel's inspiration and its portrayal of specific regional realities. Methodologically, the research opts for a descriptive qualitative approach, which is well-suited for the in-depth textual analysis required for literary studies. The identification of dialog quotes and narratives within the novel as the objects of research is appropriate for engaging with the text directly. However, the abstract's mention of "Analisis Wacana" (Discourse Analysis) in the title remains somewhat underexplored in the methodology description. It is not explicitly stated how discourse analysis techniques are integrated with or complement the mimetic approach, leaving a potential ambiguity regarding the precise analytical framework beyond simply identifying parallels between the novel and reality. Furthermore, the stated result—that "several parts of the novel... whose life is exactly the same as real life"—suggests a somewhat simplistic understanding of mimesis, which often involves more complex processes of representation, selection, and interpretation rather than mere replication. Despite these points for potential clarification, the study addresses a relevant area by connecting literary imagination to lived experiences. The research highlights the novel's ability to mirror local realities, which can enhance readers' appreciation for its depth and authenticity. To strengthen future iterations, the authors might consider elaborating on the specific tools of discourse analysis applied, and how these tools illuminate the nuanced ways the novel *represents* or *interprets* reality, beyond simple "sameness." Exploring the implications of these findings for the novel's thematic concerns or its role in cultural discourse would also add significant depth. Overall, this paper lays a good foundation for understanding the real-world connections embedded within *Mata di Tanah Melus*, offering a valuable step toward a more comprehensive literary analysis.
