Analisis syair al-mazallatu kufrun dalam diwan asy-syafi’i (kajian semiotika charles sander pierce). Telusuri analisis semiotika Charles Sander Pierce terhadap syair 'Al-Mazallatu Kufrun' dalam Diwan Asy-Syafi’i. Mengungkap makna ikon dan indeks terkait qana'ah dan ketuhanan.
Poetry, known as "sya'ir" in Arabic, is a concise and meaningful expression. It is characterized by the use of short sentences and consists of only a few lines. In poetry, there are many expressions conveyed indirectly, requiring deeper interpretation. The purpose of this research is to explore the signs in the poem "Al-Mazallatu Kufrun" by Imam Shafi'i using Charles Sander Pierce's semiotics theory. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with an objective approach. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results of this research reveal the existence of signs based on the relationship between signs and their signifiers, namely icons and indexes. Icons in the above poem are found in the first and third stanzas with the aim of expressing the sign of not depending on others in worldly matters because one feels content with the provision of Allah SWT, known as "qana'ah." This is because the provision from Allah SWT is what humans truly need, not necessarily what they desire. Furthermore, indexes in the poem are present in the second and fourth stanzas, intending to explain the consequences of fearing only Allah and accepting sincerely what God provides.
This paper presents a focused qualitative study examining the profound layers of meaning within Imam Shafi'i's poem "Al-Mazallatu Kufrun." By applying Charles S. Peirce's semiotics theory, the research aims to uncover the indirect expressions and deeper interpretations embedded in this piece of classical Arabic poetry. The choice of a foundational Islamic scholar's work, coupled with a robust semiotic framework, suggests a promising investigation into how spiritual and ethical concepts are encoded and communicated through poetic language. The descriptive qualitative methodology, with its objective approach and descriptive analysis technique, appears well-suited for such an interpretative endeavor. A significant strength highlighted in the abstract lies in its systematic application of Peirce's semiotics, specifically identifying icons and indexes, to illuminate the poem's intricate layers of meaning. The research clearly articulates the presence of icons in the first and third stanzas, interpreted as conveying the concept of "qana'ah" – contentment with divine provision and independence from worldly reliance. This interpretation highlights a crucial spiritual teaching inherent in the verses. Similarly, the identification of indexes in the second and fourth stanzas, which explain the consequences of unwavering faith and sincere acceptance of God's will, demonstrates a structured approach to decoding the poem's implicit messages, offering valuable insights into the semiotic construction of spiritual wisdom within classical Islamic poetry. While the abstract provides a solid overview of the research's intent and findings, a comprehensive full paper would benefit from several elaborations. For instance, detailing the specific *types* of icons (e.g., image, diagram, metaphor) and indexes (e.g., causal, symptomatic) identified within the poem, alongside concrete textual examples, would significantly strengthen the semiotic analysis. Furthermore, the paper could delve deeper into the *process* of interpretation, demonstrating precisely how the semiotic analysis goes beyond a surface reading to uncover the "indirect expressions." Finally, discussing how these findings contribute to a broader understanding of either Islamic literary studies, semiotic theory applications in religious texts, or the enduring relevance of Imam Shafi'i's thought would enhance the paper's overall academic impact and significance.
