This paper proposes a compelling and timely investigation into the evolution of utopian and dystopian narratives within Argentine speculative literature, specifically situated within the evocative landscape of the Río de la Plata Basin delta and its islands. By charting a diachronic path from 19th-century physiocratic utopias to contemporary literary trends, the study promises a nuanced understanding of how societal hopes, fears, and environmental consciousness have been articulated through fiction in this particular region. The project's relevance is clear, offering valuable insights into the interplay between literary imagination, historical context, and the ongoing dialogue surrounding modernity and environmental paradigms in a distinct Latin American context. A significant strength of this research lies in its methodical approach, which skillfully combines a broad historical sweep with precise synchronic analyses. The abstract clearly delineates a fascinating trajectory: beginning with the "first Argentine utopia" linked to a 19th-century physiocratic imaginary, it then transitions to a 21st-century corpus marked by dystopia, yet subtly containing a "utopian pulse" through its call for a paradigm shift. Crucially, the paper identifies a recent return to utopian possibility, emphasizing its distinct nature from the earlier decimononic vision. This structure allows for a sophisticated examination of ideological shifts and continuities, demonstrating how the delta acts as a dynamic canvas for reflecting changing societal relationships with nature, progress, and the future. While the abstract provides a clear outline of the study's scope and methodology, the full paper would benefit from a more explicit articulation of the specific characteristics distinguishing the "new imagination utópica" from its 19th-century predecessor. Further elaboration on the nature of the "paradigm shift" proposed by the 21st-century dystopian texts would also deepen the analysis. Understanding what specific ecological, political, or social dimensions define this contemporary utopian vision, and how it directly responds to the challenges posed by earlier dystopian narratives, promises to enhance the study's critical impact. This research holds the potential to make a substantial contribution not only to studies of Argentine literature but also to broader academic discourse on ecocriticism, Latin American speculative fiction, and the re-evaluation of utopian thought in a globally critical era.
