The study "Tingkat Kejadian Carpal Tunnel Syndrome pada Penjual Rujak di Lokasi Wisata Pulau Ambon Tahun 2023" addresses an interesting and often overlooked occupational health concern. It aimed to determine the prevalence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among rujak sellers, an occupation characterized by repetitive wrist movements, in selected tourist locations on Ambon Island. Employing a descriptive, cross-sectional design with total sampling, the study collected data from 43 rujak sellers using the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire (BCTQ). A striking finding was the high reported prevalence of CTS at 74%, with the highest rates observed in specific age, BMI, work experience, and work duration categories. This research is valuable for highlighting a potential health issue within a specific, culturally relevant occupational group. While the study offers initial insights into CTS prevalence in rujak sellers, several methodological aspects warrant critical consideration. Foremost is the inconsistency between the title, which refers to "Tingkat Kejadian" (Level of Incidence), and the abstract's stated objective and methods, which clearly indicate the measurement of "prevalensi" (prevalence). A cross-sectional design inherently measures prevalence, not incidence. More significantly, the reliance solely on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire (BCTQ) for diagnosing CTS is a major limitation. The BCTQ is a widely used instrument for assessing symptom severity and functional status in individuals already diagnosed with or suspected of having CTS; it is not a standalone diagnostic tool. Consequently, the reported 74% prevalence should be interpreted as a prevalence of *symptoms suggestive of CTS* rather than a confirmed clinical diagnosis. The small sample size (N=43) also limits the generalizability of these findings beyond the specific study locations. To enhance the robustness and clinical applicability of future research in this area, it is strongly recommended that studies incorporate objective diagnostic methods for CTS, such as physical examination by a trained clinician and, ideally, nerve conduction studies. This would provide a more accurate assessment of true clinical prevalence. Furthermore, expanding the sample size and geographic scope would improve the generalizability of findings. Future research could also explore the specific ergonomic stressors involved in rujak preparation, investigate potential causal relationships through longitudinal designs, and evaluate the effectiveness of educational or interventional strategies to mitigate the risk of CTS among rujak sellers. Despite its limitations, this study serves as an important preliminary step, bringing attention to an occupational health issue that warrants further, more rigorously designed investigation.
