The study, "The Influence of Market Day Activities on the Value of Honesty in Children Aged 5-6 Years at One Roof Kindergarten Permata Hati Kembang Seri," addresses a highly relevant topic in early childhood education: the development of character values through experiential learning. The research aimed to investigate the impact of market day activities on honesty among kindergarten-aged children. Utilizing a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pretest Posttest approach, the authors concluded that market day activities significantly influence the honesty values of children, supporting its inclusion as a pedagogical tool in educational institutions. A notable strength of this study lies in its focus on a practical and engaging activity, "Market Day," which offers a tangible context for fostering important social and ethical values in young children. The clear objective and quantitative approach to assess honesty values provide a structured framework for the investigation. However, several methodological aspects warrant closer examination. The abstract states that "The sampling technique used in this study was an observation sheet," which appears to be a misstatement; an observation sheet is a data collection instrument, not a sampling technique. This ambiguity clouds the specific method by which the 25 sample children were selected from the population of 53. Furthermore, while the One Group Pretest Posttest Design is straightforward, it inherently limits the study's ability to establish definitive causality due to potential threats to internal validity such as maturation, history, or testing effects, which are not controlled for without a comparison group. Despite these methodological considerations, the study offers valuable preliminary evidence supporting the pedagogical utility of market day activities in cultivating honesty among early childhood learners. The findings suggest that such immersive, role-playing experiences can be effective in character development within educational settings. For future research, it would be beneficial to employ more robust experimental designs, such as a true experimental design with a control group, to strengthen the causal inferences and rule out alternative explanations for the observed changes. Additionally, exploring the influence of market day on other prosocial values, investigating long-term effects, and replicating the study across diverse kindergarten settings could further enrich our understanding of this intervention's broader impact. Overall, this study serves as a useful initial exploration into an important area of early childhood education, providing a foundation for more rigorous investigations.
