Review

This study addresses a pertinent topic concerning the career development of final-year university students, specifically investigating the impact of social support and self-efficacy on their career decision-making. Utilizing a quantitative method with a correlational approach, the research effectively employs multiple linear regression to analyze data from 101 purposively sampled students at Aisyiyah University, Yogyakarta. This methodological choice is well-suited to the study's aim of examining the predictive relationships between the chosen psychological and social variables and career choice outcomes within a specific institutional context. The findings of this research are noteworthy, demonstrating that both social support and self-efficacy significantly influence students' career choices. A particularly interesting result is the differential impact, with social support being identified as having a greater effect than self-efficacy. Collectively, these two factors account for a substantial 65.5% of the variance in students' career decisions, indicating a strong explanatory power for the model. This robust finding highlights the critical, intertwined roles of a student's support network and their personal belief in their capabilities in navigating the complexities of career selection. While the study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of career decision-making within its specific population, further research could explore the specific mechanisms through which social support exerts its greater influence. Investigating the types of social support (e.g., emotional, informational, tangible) or facets of self-efficacy (e.g., career decision-making self-efficacy vs. general self-efficacy) would enrich these findings. Practically, the results offer strong implications for career development programs at Aisyiyah University and similar institutions, emphasizing the importance of fostering supportive environments and implementing interventions designed to bolster students' self-efficacy to facilitate more effective career decision-making.
