Explore the significant impact of asatidz parenting, especially democratic styles, on the independence and character development of children at Muhammadiyah Yuliwis Resman Orphanage, Depok.
This study aims to analyze the influence of asatidz parenting on the level of child independence in the Muhammadiyah Yuliwis Resman Orphanage, Depok City. The parenting style applied by asatidz has a strategic role in shaping the character and independence of orphanage children, considering that asatidz functions as an educator figure as well as a substitute for parents. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population was all foster children at the Muhammadiyah Yuliwis Resman Orphanage, Depok City, with saturated sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale that measured the parenting style of asatidz and the level of child independence. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including simple correlation and regression tests. The results of the study show that the dominant asatidz parenting style applied is democratic parenting with a high category. The level of independence of orphanage children is also in the high category, especially in practical independence aspects such as self-care, responsibility, discipline, and initiative. The results of the inferential analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between asatidz parenting and the level of child independence. A simple regression test showed that the parenting style of asatidz had a significant effect on the level of children's independence with a contribution of 40%, while the rest was influenced by other factors outside the study variables. This study concludes that asatidz parenting, especially democratic parenting, has an important role in increasing the independence of orphanage children. Therefore, strengthening the quality of parenting oriented towards guidance, example, and habituation of responsibility needs to be continuously developed to form independent and characterful orphanage children
The study titled "The Effect Of Asatidz Parenting on The Level Of Independence of Children of Muhammadiyah Orphanage Yuliwis Resman Depok City" investigates a crucial aspect of child development within institutional care. It specifically analyzes how the parenting styles of asatidz, who serve as both educators and substitute parents, influence the independence levels of children in a Muhammadiyah orphanage. This research is particularly significant for its focus on a vulnerable population and its potential to inform best practices in caregiving within such settings, thereby contributing valuable insights into fostering character and self-reliance. Employing a quantitative, correlational design, the researchers collected data from the entire population of foster children using saturated sampling at the specified orphanage. Data were gathered through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring asatidz parenting styles and children's independence, and analyzed using descriptive, correlation, and regression statistics. The key findings reveal that a democratic parenting style is predominantly applied by the asatidz, which positively and significantly correlates with a high level of child independence, especially in practical areas such as self-care and responsibility. The regression analysis further highlights that asatidz parenting significantly contributes to 40% of the variation in children's independence, indicating its substantial, albeit not exclusive, role. This study effectively demonstrates the positive link between democratic parenting and children's independence in an orphanage setting, offering practical implications for caregivers. While the correlational nature of the study means it identifies associations rather than direct causation, and the acknowledged 60% of unexplained variance points to other influential factors, its conclusions are well-supported within the given scope. The recommendation to continuously enhance parenting quality through guidance, example, and habituation of responsibility provides a clear direction for improving outcomes. Future research could benefit from exploring these other influential factors through a mixed-methods approach or longitudinal studies to gain a more comprehensive understanding of children's long-term independence development.
