Abstract

Padusan Village is one of the popular tourist destinations among tourists when they want to spend their holiday time, so Padusan Village can be called a Tourist Village. The development of Padusan Village into an area that has many tourist attractions has created new things in the community, one of which is the emergence of MSMEs around Padusan Village. However, the majority of MSMEs in Padusan Village only sell agricultural products and home-processed food. There are no MSME actors in Padusan Village who sell souvenir products which are the hallmark of Padusan Village. Some of the problems that occur in Padusan Village are the lack of understanding from the community regarding the importance of souvenirs as souvenir products in the tourism industry, in addition to the low ability of the Padusan Village community in making souvenirs. Based on the existing problems, the service team from the State University of Malang wants to carry out community service activities in the form of mentoring on ecoprint techniques based on vegetation diversity as an alternative product for souvenirs typical of Padusan Pacet Tourism Village, Mojokerto. This service activity is carried out to realize the community's abilities and skills in producing souvenir products typical of the Padusan Tourism Village so that Padusan Village as a tourist village can develop further and increase the economic income of Padusan Village. The partner problem solving method in this activity is in the form of training and mentoring activities which begin with providing theory, practice and evaluation of the participants' work. This service activity was carried out well and smoothly, all participants followed the sequence of events from start to finish. The result of this service activity is an increase in skills for the Padusan Village community in producing handicrafts using ecoprint techniques and has the potential to become a business opportunity in Padusan Village.

Review

This paper presents a highly relevant and timely community service initiative aimed at enhancing the economic resilience and unique identity of Padusan Village, a burgeoning tourist destination. The central premise, addressing the identified gap in local MSMEs for distinctive souvenir products through the introduction of ecoprint techniques, is commendable. By leveraging the village's rich vegetation diversity, the program smartly intertwines local natural resources with cultural product development, offering a sustainable and authentic alternative to generic offerings. The explicit focus on boosting community understanding and skills in souvenir creation directly tackles a critical barrier to local economic growth, positioning this intervention as a valuable model for similar tourism-dependent communities. The methodology employed, characterized by a structured approach involving theoretical instruction, practical application, and participant work evaluation, appears robust and well-suited for skill transfer. The abstract indicates a smooth and successful execution, with full participant engagement from start to finish, which speaks to the effectiveness of the training design and delivery by the service team. This hands-on, comprehensive mentoring model ensures that participants not only grasp the concepts but also gain practical proficiency in producing ecoprint handicrafts, moving beyond mere theoretical knowledge to tangible skill acquisition. The immediate outcomes of the service activity, namely the increase in community skills in ecoprint techniques and the identification of potential business opportunities, are very promising. These results directly contribute to the overarching goals of developing Padusan Village as a tourist destination and augmenting local economic income. For future iterations or follow-up studies, it would be beneficial to track the long-term sustainability of these newfound skills and business ventures, perhaps through quantitative measures of new MSME formation, sales figures, and the integration of these unique souvenirs into the broader tourism market of Mojokerto. This would provide deeper insights into the lasting impact and scalability of such valuable community empowerment programs.
