The population in this study were 126 employees of PT X in Bekasi. Sampling in this study is using saturated sampling. The research data were collected using three scales, namely the Physical Health scale, the work-life-balance scale, and the psychological wellbeing scale. Data analysis was performed using SEM PLS. Work-stress has a significant effect on Psychological Well-being with a p-value of 0.001. Physical Health has no significant effect on Psychological Well-being with p-values of 0.388 or more than 0.05. Work-life balance has a significant effect on Psychological Well-being with a p-value of 0.000. Physical Health has a significant effect on Psychological Well-being with Work-stress as an intervening p-value of 0.038. While Work-Life Balance has a significant effect on Psychological Well-being with Work-stress as an intervening with a p-value of 0.001. In this study, it is proven that work-stress mediates the effect of physical health and work-life balance on psychological well-being.
This study meticulously examines the intricate relationships between physical health, work-life balance, work-stress, and psychological well-being among employees at PT X in Bekasi. By positioning work-stress as an intervening variable, the research offers a critical perspective on how these factors collectively influence an individual's mental state within a specific organizational context. The methodology, employing saturated sampling across all 126 employees and utilizing SEM PLS for data analysis, suggests a rigorous approach to understanding these complex dynamics within the chosen population. The findings present a nuanced understanding of the proposed model. The study robustly demonstrates that both physical health and work-life balance significantly contribute to work-stress levels. In turn, work-stress is confirmed as a significant predictor of psychological well-being, highlighting its crucial role. Interestingly, while physical health did not show a direct significant effect on psychological well-being, its influence became significant when mediated by work-stress. Conversely, work-life balance exhibited both a direct and indirect (via work-stress) significant effect on psychological well-being. The most compelling conclusion drawn is the proven mediating role of work-stress, illustrating that it acts as a critical link through which physical health and work-life balance ultimately impact an employee's psychological well-being. While the research provides valuable insights and a strong empirical foundation for the mediating role of work-stress, the abstract’s brevity limits a comprehensive critical evaluation of potential methodological nuances, such as the specific scales employed for all variables (e.g., work-stress itself) and their psychometric properties. The saturated sampling ensures high internal validity for PT X employees, yet it inherently restricts the immediate generalizability to other organizations without further validation. Future research could benefit from exploring these relationships in broader populations and diverse industries to confirm the model's external validity. Practically, the findings strongly underscore the importance of organizational initiatives focused on mitigating work-stress through targeted interventions promoting employee physical health and robust work-life balance programs, thereby fostering a more psychologically healthy workforce.
