Introduction

Pendampingan optimalisasi penerapan low external input sustainable agriculture pada budidaya kopi arabika sebagai komoditi unggulan di kabupaten bener meriah. Panduan penerapan LEISA untuk budidaya kopi Arabika di Bener Meriah. Tingkatkan produksi, kurangi biaya dengan pupuk organik dan praktik pertanian berkelanjutan bagi petani kopi.

Abstract

Urgensi pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah bagaimana Koperasi Produsen Cahaya Mutiara Mandiri (PCMM) harus memenuhi syarat organik untuk peningkatan devisa. Namun, koperasi menghadapi beberapa permasalahan, seperti profit dan produksi yang rendah, serta penggunaan input eksternal yang tinggi, sehingga biaya produksi meningkat. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan produksi kopi, mengurangi penggunaan input dari luar dan menekan biaya produksi. Tujuan itu didasarkan pada konsep Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA). Untuk solusi meningkatkan produksi yang rendah, IPTEK yang diterapkan adalah mendampingi pengelola koperasi dalam pembuatan kompos organik yang terbuat dari tumbuhan thitonia, kirinyuh yang memiliki unsur hara tinggi. Selanjutnya solusi untuk masalah penggunaan input dari luar yang tinggi dilakukan dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan lokal seperti tumbuhan thitonia dan kirinyuh yang dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk organik. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi terhadap seluruh peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan, terjadi peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan pada seluruh peserta pelatihan. Anggota koperasi dan petani memahami pupuk organik/kompos secara umum sebelum pelatihan 85,7%, dan sesudah pelatihan 100%, Mengetahui pemanfaatan dan pengolahan limbah organik sebelum pelatihan 64,2%, dan sesudah pelatihan 92,8%, Mampu melakukan pembuatan kompos, dan MOL sebelum pelatihan 42,8%, dan sesudah pelatihan 85,7%.

This community service initiative addresses a highly pertinent issue concerning the sustainability and economic viability of Arabica coffee cultivation in Bener Meriah, particularly for the Koperasi Produsen Cahaya Mutiara Mandiri (PCMM). The project's core objective to transition towards organic certification while tackling prevalent challenges such as low profit and production, coupled with high external input costs, is commendable. By focusing on the principles of Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA), the paper proposes a practical framework to enhance production, reduce reliance on external inputs, and ultimately decrease operational costs for coffee farmers, aligning well with current global demands for sustainable agricultural practices. The methodology adopted by this project is direct and highly relevant to the identified problems. The intervention centered on providing farmers with the knowledge and skills to produce organic compost from readily available local plants like thitonia and kirinyuh, known for their high nutrient content. This approach directly addresses the need to increase soil fertility while simultaneously reducing dependence on costly synthetic fertilizers. The evaluation results presented demonstrate a significant improvement in participants' understanding and practical skills related to organic fertilizer and compost production. The marked increase in percentages for general compost knowledge, organic waste utilization, and the ability to make compost and MOL (Local Microorganism) pre- and post-training indicates a successful knowledge transfer and skill development component of the program. While the project successfully demonstrates an uplift in participants' understanding and capability, the abstract primarily reports on knowledge and skill acquisition rather than the direct, tangible impact on coffee production, input reduction, and cost savings in the field. Future reporting or follow-up studies would greatly benefit from quantifiable data on these critical outcome metrics, such as actual yields post-intervention, documented reductions in external input purchases, and verifiable cost savings for the cooperative members. This would provide stronger evidence of LEISA's effectiveness and its contribution to the cooperative's profitability and organic certification goals, ultimately strengthening the case for broader implementation and long-term sustainability.
