This submission addresses a critical and highly relevant issue: the early detection of mental health problems within communities, particularly in the face of limited mental health literacy and professional shortages. The study's focus on empowering community health cadres (kader kesehatan) is a strategic and commendable approach, leveraging their unique position of trust and proximity to the community. The abstract clearly outlines the objective of enhancing cadre capacity through a well-structured methodology encompassing education, technical training, case simulation, and pre-post testing. The selection of instruments, Mini MindHEAR Youth Scale (MMYS V.1) for youth and PHQ-4 for adults, demonstrates a considered and appropriate choice for initial screening. The results presented are compelling and strongly support the efficacy of the intervention. A significant 42% increase in knowledge and a remarkable 68% improvement in screening skills among cadres underscore the success of the training program. This enhanced capability extends to understanding key symptoms of depression, anxiety, social withdrawal, and emotional stress across different age groups, as well as the crucial ability to make more targeted initial referrals to professionals. These findings highlight the immense potential for cadres to bridge the gap in mental health service access and improve early detection rates, thereby strengthening the community-based mental health system. The strategic use of cadres offers a scalable and sustainable model for proactive mental health support. While the abstract presents a highly positive and impactful initiative, a full paper would benefit from further elaboration on several aspects to enhance its robustness. It would be valuable to delve deeper into the specific challenges encountered during the training or implementation phase, and how these were mitigated. Additionally, while "pendampingan berkelanjutan" (continuous assistance) is recommended, a more detailed framework or model for this ongoing support would strengthen the sustainability aspect. Future research could explore the actual follow-up rates and outcomes of the referrals made by the trained cadres, providing empirical evidence of the downstream impact. Overall, this project offers a promising model for community-level mental health intervention and warrants strong consideration for publication given its practical significance and clear positive outcomes.
