Review

This paper addresses a critically important public health and social issue: the provision of social services for victims of drug abuse in a high-risk area. The abstract effectively highlights the severe challenge of drug (Napza) circulation and use in Jayapura City, Papua, exacerbated by its geographical proximity to Papua New Guinea, and also points to the alarming prevalence of alcohol abuse, even among children. By focusing on YP2MP (Yayasan Pendampingan Dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Papua Dan Papua Barat), an Institusi Penerima Wajib Lapor (IPWL), the study aims to shed light on the efforts of a specific local institution in tackling this complex problem, offering valuable insights into community-level interventions in a region often facing unique socio-economic challenges. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing field observation, interviews, and documentation studies, which are suitable methods for exploring the nature and scope of services provided by YP2MP. As presented in the abstract, the institution's services extend across Jayapura City, Jayapura District, and Keerom District, encompassing both in-house and outreach programs designed to assist victims in their recovery and social reintegration. While the abstract clearly outlines *what* YP2MP does and its geographical reach, it largely describes the operational aspects of the institution. A more detailed elucidation of the specific types of rehabilitation programs, the theoretical underpinnings guiding these services, or the challenges faced in their delivery would further enrich the abstract's summary of the study's contribution. Overall, this study promises to provide an important descriptive account of social rehabilitation efforts for drug abuse victims in a particularly vulnerable region of Indonesia. The abstract lays a foundational understanding of YP2MP's role, but leaves room for the full paper to delve into the efficacy of these programs, the specific outcomes achieved, or any barriers to successful recovery and social functioning. Future research, or indeed the full paper itself, could greatly benefit from analyzing the policy implications of YP2MP's work, exploring the specific challenges unique to the Papuan context, or presenting case studies that illustrate the journey of recovery. Such depth would not only enhance the academic contribution but also offer more actionable insights for policymakers and practitioners working in this critical field.
