This community service program presents a highly relevant and timely initiative addressing the critical need for enhancing information technology capabilities among village officials in remote areas. The program's clear objective to bolster administrative effectiveness, transparency, and accountability through the utilization of Microsoft Word and Excel directly aligns with efforts to improve local governance and public service delivery. The structured approach, which includes thorough problem identification, material development, and practical, hands-on training, demonstrates a thoughtful and well-executed design. The reported outcomes, particularly the significant increase in independent computer operation from 38% to 80% and the overwhelmingly positive participant feedback (83.3% rating the training as 'very good'), underscore the immediate and tangible impact of this intervention. The methodology employed, involving a targeted cohort of 12 village officials from six villages, appears appropriate for a pilot community service initiative. The abstract effectively presents quantitative evidence of skill improvement, which robustly supports the claims of effectiveness. A notable limitation, clearly identified by the authors themselves, is the scarcity of computer devices, which directly impacted the duration of practical training sessions. While the abstract provides a strong overview, a brief mention of the total training duration or a more specific outline of the modules covered within Word and Excel could offer additional context for readers seeking to understand the intensity and depth of the intervention. In conclusion, this program successfully demonstrates a viable and highly effective model for empowering village officials through targeted IT training, with demonstrable positive outcomes for local administrative enhancement. The authors' proactive recommendations for program sustainability – including the crucial augmentation of facilities, extended training periods, and the development of advanced modules – are highly pertinent and provide a clear roadmap for maximizing long-term impact and scalability. This paper makes a valuable contribution by documenting a successful community engagement initiative and offers excellent guidance for future, scaled-up efforts in similar contexts, making it highly commendable.
