Abstract

Abstract: The right of religion freedom is one of the rights that cannot be reduced or eliminated. Every human being has the same right to determine his freedom, this right includes the freedom to adopt and accept a religion and belief of his own choice. The goal of the Indonesian nation will not be achieved if freedom of religion has not been realized. Disruption to religiom freedom in Indonesia is inseparable from disruption to the integrity of the State and the ideology of Pancasila. The church has an important role in promoting and maintaining religious freedom in accordance with Pancasila values; provide insight and form a complete understanding of religious freedom. Ideally, as written in Article 29 Paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution states that every citizen has the freedom to embrace religion and worship according to their respective beliefs. This constitutional guarantee is a solid foundation for protecting individual rights to practice their religion without pressure or discrimination. Various articles have discussed the importance of Pancasila for the State, but none have discussed the role of the church in religious freedom based on Pancasila. Through this research, we hope to provide insight and contribution to the church so that it can play a role in relation to religious freedom based on Pancasila. This research is a qualitative research approach with content analysis methods, then makes valid conclusions from the text with the context used. Abstrak: Hak atas kebebasan beragama termasuk salah satu hak yang tidak dapat dikurangi atau dihilangkan. Setiap umat manusia memiliki hak yang sama untuk menentukan kebebasannya, hak ini mencakup kebebasan untuk menganut dan menerima suatu agama dan kepercayaan atas pilihannya sendiri. Tujuan bangsa Indonesia tidak akan mungkin tercapai, apabila kebebasan beragama belum terwujud. Gangguan terhadap kebebasan beragama di Indonesia tidak terpisahkan dengan gangguan terhadap keutuhan Negara dan ideologi Pancasila. Gereja memiliki peran penting dalam rangka mempromosikan dan menjaga kebebasan beragama sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Pancasila; memberikan wawasan dan membentuk pemahaman kebebasan beragama yang utuh. Idealnya sebagaimana yang tertulis dalam Pasal 29 Ayat 2 UUD 1945 menyatakan bahwa setiap warga negara memiliki kebebasan untuk memeluk agama dan beribadah sesuai dengan keyakinan masing-masing. Jaminan konstitusional ini merupakan dasar yang kuat untuk melindungi hak-hak individu dalam menjalankan agama mereka tanpa tekanan atau diskriminasi. Berbagai artikel tentang membahas mengenai pentingnya Pancasila bagi Negara namun belum ada yang membahas mengenai peran gereja terhadap kebebasan beragama berdasarkan Pancasila. Melalui penelitian ini, kiranya memberikan wawasan dan kontribusi terhadap gereja agar dapat berperan dalam kaitannya dengan kebebasan beragama berdasarkan Pancasila. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi, kemudian membuat kesimpulan yang valid dari teks dengan konteks yang digunakan.

Methodologically, the article proposes a qualitative research approach utilizing content analysis, which appears appropriate for interpreting textual and contextual nuances to derive valid conclusions regarding the church's role in this intricate relationship between Pancasila and religious liberty. While the abstract clearly outlines the study's significance and innovative angle, the full paper would benefit from a more detailed articulation of the proposed mechanisms through which the church can implement its role. For instance, explaining *what specific actions* or *interpretations* of Pancasila values the church can leverage would strengthen the practical implications. Additionally, for a content analysis, a clearer indication of the *types of texts or discourses* that will be analyzed would enhance methodological clarity. Nevertheless, the research's focus on the church's contribution to religious freedom under the banner of Pancasila is highly relevant and promising, offering a fresh perspective that could significantly inform both religious institutions and policy-makers in Indonesia.
