Abstract

Review

This paper, "Konsep Waktu dalam Al-Qur’an dan Tantangannya Terhadap Budaya ‘Scrolling’ Generasi Muda," presents a highly relevant and timely analysis of the Qur'anic concept of time in contrast to the pervasive digital 'scrolling' culture among young generations. The abstract clearly articulates the research's objective: to explore how the sacred understanding of time in Islam can offer a critical lens and a meaningful response to the modern phenomenon of scrolling, which profoundly impacts awareness of time, productivity, and spirituality. The qualitative, descriptive-critical approach, examining Qur'anic verses through tafsir and Islamic spirituality in a digital cultural context, positions the study at an intriguing intersection of theology, ethics, and contemporary social behavior. The research effectively highlights a profound dichotomy, revealing time in the Qur'an as a sacred entity demanding consciousness, moral responsibility, and spiritual orientation, starkly contrasted with the instant, superficial, and negligence-inducing nature of scrolling. The abstract’s findings are compelling, demonstrating how scrolling leads to temporal disorientation, erodes the meaning of existence, and weakens prophetic values. A key strength of the paper lies not only in identifying this critical issue but also in proposing actionable responses, including the reconstruction of Qur'anic time consciousness through spiritual education, ethical technological development, and institutional engagement. This contribution is significant, offering an initial framework for digital ethics rooted in Islamic spirituality and advocating for much-needed multidisciplinary research. While the paper presents a robust conceptual framework, future iterations or related research could benefit from exploring several avenues. Given the proposed solutions, a discussion on potential methodological approaches to *implement* and *evaluate* the effectiveness of spiritual education or ethical technology development in combating "ghaflah" would be valuable. For instance, empirical case studies or action research in specific educational or community settings could further solidify the practical implications of the 'rekonstruksi kesadaran waktu Qur’ani'. Additionally, a deeper dive into the specific psychological and spiritual mechanisms through which scrolling induces 'disorientasi waktu' and 'kelalaian' from a more granular Islamic psychological perspective could enrich the analysis. Nonetheless, this study provides an excellent foundation, opening critical discourse on how Islamic spiritual principles can actively guide and shape ethical digital engagement.
