Abstract

Review

The paper, titled "INVENTARISASI SERANGGA SISTEM FEROMON TRAP & YELLOW TRAP TERHADAP BUDIDAYA TANAMAN" (Insect Inventory using Pheromone and Yellow Trap Systems in Crop Cultivation), addresses a highly relevant issue concerning agricultural productivity and pest management. The study's core objective is to inventory both parasitic and beneficial insects within *palawija* (food crop) ecosystems to facilitate precise and appropriate pesticide application for maximum yield. This foundational approach, recognizing biodiversity as a crucial system in living organisms, positions the research as an important step towards more sustainable farming practices and reduced reliance on broad-spectrum chemical pesticides. The methodology employed involves the use of yellow traps and pheromone traps, strategically placed in rice fields, to collect insect samples. A key aspect highlighted is the application of pheromones, noted for their ability to trap a higher number of female insects. The study successfully identified and inventoried a total of 166 individual insects. Significantly, the results indicate that the Diptera order exhibited the greatest abundance among the trapped insects, with 136 individuals found in pheromone traps and 30 in yellow traps. This inventory is presented as crucial for informing targeted biopesticide strategies, leading to the specific recommendation of the fungus *Beauveria bassiana* as an environmentally friendly option. While the study presents valuable preliminary data for pest management, the abstract could benefit from enhanced clarity on the specific connection between the observed insect orders (e.g., Diptera dominance) and the subsequent recommendation of *Beauveria bassiana*. A more explicit statement on whether the identified Diptera are primarily considered pests or whether their high number signifies other ecological roles would strengthen the rationale for the biopesticide choice. Additionally, elaborating on specific genera or species identified, rather than just the order, would provide greater detail and practical utility for farmers. Future research could further classify the identified insects into parasitic, beneficial, or neutral categories, and investigate the efficacy of *Beauveria bassiana* against the most prevalent pest species found in these ecosystems, thereby offering more comprehensive and directly actionable recommendations for local agricultural communities.
