FunÇÕes e potencialidades da mÚsica no cotidiano urbano. Explore as funções e potencialidades da música no cotidiano urbano. Este artigo discute o uso da música em cidades além do estético, fundamentando futuras pesquisas com visões diversas.

Abstract

Há uma diversidade de situações e contextos nos quais a música foi e tem sido utilizada cotidianamente nas sociedades urbanas. Estes usos vão além do simples prazer estético, e se associam a condições e atividades específicas desempenhadas pelos atores envolvidos. Alimentando a discussão sobre as funções e potencialidades proporcionadas por esses usos, este artigo se propõe a retomar inicialmente as diferentes visões acerca dos efeitos da música, oriundas principalmente da Musicologia tradicional, Psicologia e Etnomusicologia. Em seguida, é proposta uma base conceitual para fundamentar o mecanismo pelo qual a música é utilizada, partindo de sua existência em determinado contexto, seu oferecimento de diferentes potencialidades e, por fim, a apropriação de algumas destas potencialidades por atores envolvidos. A discussão central do artigo se firma então na apresentação e síntese de diferentes funções encontradas na literatura, com intuito de fundamentar posteriores pesquisas que busquem lidar com os usos da música no cotidiano das cidades.
