Abstract

This study examines Immanuel Kant's moral philosophy and its implementation in building a multicultural society. The purpose of this study is to analyze the basic concepts of Kant's moral philosophy, in particular categorical imperatives, and explore their relevance in the context of contemporary multicultural society. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a literature study method, using primary sources in the form of Kant's original works and secondary sources from various scientific publications in 2015-2024. The data was collected through systematic searches of academic databases such as JSTOR, Google Scholar, and ProQuest, then analyzed using content analysis methods and philosophical hermeneutics. The results show that Kant's moral philosophy, especially universal principles and respect for human dignity, provides a fundamental ethical foundation in building a multicultural society. The implementation of Kantian moral principles can be realized through intercultural dialogue, multicultural education, and inclusive public policy. This research contributes to the development of theoretical and practical discourse in an effort to build a harmonious multicultural society based on Kantian ethics

Review

This study, "Filsafat Moral Immanuel Kant dan Implementasinya dalam Keharmonisan Masyarakat Multikultural," addresses a highly pertinent and complex topic: the application of Immanuel Kant's moral philosophy to the challenge of fostering harmony in multicultural societies. The stated purpose—to analyze Kant's fundamental concepts, particularly categorical imperatives, and explore their contemporary relevance—is clearly articulated and promises a valuable contribution to both philosophical discourse and practical social ethics. The significance of examining universal ethical frameworks for navigating diversity is undeniable, and the paper's focus on Kant offers a robust philosophical lens through which to approach this critical issue, indicating a well-conceived and timely research project. The methodology described appears sound and systematic for a qualitative, literature-based study. The use of Kant's original works as primary sources, complemented by recent secondary literature (2015-2024) from reputable academic databases, indicates a thorough approach to data collection. The analytical methods of content analysis and philosophical hermeneutics are well-suited for interpreting and applying complex philosophical texts. The stated findings—that Kant's universal principles and respect for human dignity provide a fundamental ethical foundation, implementable through intercultural dialogue, multicultural education, and inclusive public policy—are compelling and suggest a clear pathway from theory to practical application. This research thus positions itself to contribute significantly to the theoretical and practical discourse on building harmonious multicultural societies grounded in Kantian ethics. While the abstract presents a strong and promising framework, a more comprehensive exploration in the full paper would benefit from a deeper engagement with the inherent complexities and potential challenges of applying a universalist ethical framework like Kant's to the specificities of multiculturalism. For instance, explicitly addressing how Kant's categorical imperative navigates potential conflicts between universal duties and culturally specific practices, or how his concept of human dignity is applied when cultures may hold different perspectives on individual autonomy versus communal identity, would strengthen the argument. Furthermore, detailing *how* Kantian principles specifically inform the *design* and *implementation* of intercultural dialogue, multicultural education, and inclusive public policy, beyond merely stating their necessity, would provide richer practical insights. Despite these potential areas for further elaboration in the full manuscript, the abstract clearly outlines a significant and well-conceived research project.
