Abstract

Flooding disaster is a very familiar problem in the homeland, including in the cities and districts of Pekalongan, and is caused by both natural and human factors. This research was conducted with the aims of educating students of the mitigation of flood disasters through socialization activities. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data sources used in this research are from discussions and observations of socialization as a primary data source and from the study of books and scientific journals as secondary data sources. The results of this study reveal that flood disaster mitigation is effective in improving student awareness, preparedness, participation, and safety. In these activities, all school citizens should always get used to preparedness in the face of flooding. The stages of this socialization activity are: 1) exposure of material and ways of preventing it; 2) discussion; and 3) conclusion and evaluation of disaster mitigation activities closed by a question-and-answer session. This education also provides an explanation of the causes, consequences, and efforts undertaken before and during the flood to benefit the students.
