Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped communication strategies within organizational operations. This literature review examines how organizations adapt their communication frameworks to meet the demands of the digital era. The study synthesizes recent empirical and theoretical research (2023–2026) to identify key models, barriers, and strategic opportunities in digital organizational communication. Using a systematic literature review methodology, 20 peer-reviewed journals were analyzed covering dimensions of internal and external communication, leadership communication, digital tool adoption, and organizational culture. Findings reveal that effective digital communication strategies enhance employee performance, leadership quality, and organizational agility. However, organizations face challenges including information overload, resistance to change, and cultural misalignment. The study contributes a conceptual matrix framework for developing digital internal communication strategies tailored to organizational contexts. Implications for practitioners and policymakers are discussed.

Review

The submitted literature review, "Digital Communication Strategy in Organizational Operations: Communication Transformation in The Digital Age," offers a highly timely and relevant examination of how organizations are adapting their communication frameworks in response to the profound shifts brought about by digital transformation. Employing a systematic literature review methodology, the study synthesizes recent research from 20 peer-reviewed journals published between 2023 and 2026. The scope thoughtfully encompasses crucial dimensions such as internal and external communication, leadership communication, digital tool adoption, and organizational culture, setting a strong foundation for understanding contemporary challenges and opportunities in the field. The paper effectively identifies key insights, revealing that robust digital communication strategies demonstrably enhance employee performance, leadership quality, and overall organizational agility. Crucially, it also candidly addresses significant challenges, including the pervasive issues of information overload, resistance to change, and cultural misalignment that organizations frequently encounter in this digital landscape. A significant contribution of this work is the development of a conceptual matrix framework specifically designed to aid in the development of digital internal communication strategies tailored to diverse organizational contexts. This practical output, coupled with discussions on implications for practitioners and policymakers, underscores the study's commitment to both theoretical advancement and real-world applicability. While the systematic approach and the focus on very recent literature (2023–2026) are highly commendable, the abstract suggests a broad topic covered by a synthesis of 20 journals. Future work stemming from this review could perhaps explore the nuances within specific industries or organizational types in greater depth, as the "tailored to organizational contexts" aspect of the matrix framework could benefit from more granular examples. Additionally, while the framework for *internal* communication is a clear output, further elaboration or a dedicated framework for external digital communication strategies, given its inclusion in the review's scope, might strengthen the overall practical contribution. Nevertheless, this review provides a valuable and comprehensive overview, offering a solid conceptual foundation for future research and practice in digital organizational communication.
