Review

This submission, titled "Dampak penggunaan zat aditif makanan terhadap kesehatan" (Impact of food additive use on health), addresses a highly relevant public health concern, particularly regarding children's nutrition and exposure to synthetic food additives (BPT). The abstract outlines a community service activity focused on educating the public about the potential health risks associated with excessive and long-term consumption of these additives. The chosen methodology involved a "Kulwap" (WhatsApp lecture) delivered on August 24, 2021, aiming to disseminate crucial health information to participants. While the topic is undoubtedly significant, the abstract reveals a notable divergence between the ambitious title and the scope of the reported activity. The study is described as a community outreach program (pengabdian kepada masyarakat) rather than an empirical investigation into the *impacts* of food additives on health. Consequently, the "results" presented—positive participant responses regarding clarity and benefit of the material—reflect the *reception of the educational intervention*, not scientific findings on health outcomes or even quantifiable changes in knowledge or behavior among the participants. The abstract lacks specific metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the education beyond general positive feedback, making it difficult to assess the actual knowledge transfer or behavioral shift. To align the presentation more accurately with the content, it is strongly recommended that the title and abstract be revised to reflect the true nature of the work as an educational outreach program on the topic of food additives, rather than a research paper detailing their health impacts. For instance, a title such as "Edukasi Dampak Penggunaan Zat Aditif Makanan Melalui Kulwap: Sebuah Laporan Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat" (Education on the Impact of Food Additive Use via Kulwap: A Community Service Activity Report) would be more appropriate. Future iterations of such valuable community service could benefit from incorporating pre- and post-intervention assessments to quantitatively measure knowledge gain or intention to change behavior, thereby strengthening the reported outcomes. As it stands, the submission effectively reports on a successful community education initiative, but it does not present research on the health impacts themselves.
