This paper investigates the crucial topic of Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy (BSE) among primiparous and multiparous mothers, a subject of significant importance given its impact on successful breastfeeding initiation and continuation. The study clearly articulates its objective: to determine if there are differences in BSE based on parity. By defining BSE and highlighting past breastfeeding experience as a key influencing factor, the abstract effectively sets the stage for its exploration, providing a robust rationale for the research. The use of a standardized instrument, the Breastfeeding Self Efficacy Short Form questionnaire, is a strength that enhances the reliability of the data collected. The methodology employed a descriptive comparative, cross-sectional design, utilizing a purposive sample of 50 postpartum mothers. The data analysis, an independent sample T-test, was appropriately chosen for comparing the mean BSE scores between the two groups. The findings are presented clearly and concisely: multiparous mothers exhibited significantly higher BSE (mean 61.52) compared to primiparous mothers (mean 48.64), with a statistically significant p-value of 0.00. This clear result strongly supports the hypothesis that parity plays a significant role in a mother's confidence in her ability to breastfeed. The conclusion, that previous breastfeeding experience is a primary factor enhancing self-confidence in multiparous mothers, is well-supported by the data. This insight has practical implications for maternal-child health interventions, suggesting that primiparous mothers may benefit from targeted support and education to build their confidence. While the study provides valuable insights, potential limitations include the relatively small sample size of 50, which might affect the generalizability of the findings, and the purposive sampling method. Future research could expand on this by employing larger, more diverse samples, considering longitudinal designs to track BSE changes over time, and exploring specific interventions designed to boost BSE in first-time mothers.
