Productive zakat as an instrument for community economic empowerment has been widely studied; however, research that specifically discusses its implementation at Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah (BPRS) in improving the welfare of mustahik remains limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of productive zakat as business capital in improving the welfare of mustahik at BPRS Haji Miskin Pandai Sikek. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving five informants consisting of BPRS managers and mustahik recipients of productive zakat selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the distribution of productive zakat was implemented through a systematic mechanism, beginning with the identification of prospective recipients, selection, distribution of business capital, and continuing with regular assistance and supervision. This program contributed to improving the business capacity, income, and economic independence of mustahik, although the business development of each recipient showed different levels of achievement. These findings reinforce the concept of productive zakat as an instrument of economic empowerment in Islamic economics and broaden the understanding of the social role of BPRS in managing zakat funds. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of continuous assistance in improving the effectiveness of productive zakat. The implications of the study include theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic economics studies and practical implications for BPRS and zakat management institutions in optimizing community economic empowerment programs. This paper addresses a highly relevant topic concerning the role of productive zakat in fostering economic welfare, specifically within the context of Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah (BPRS). The study provides valuable insights into the systematic implementation of productive zakat as business capital by BPRS Haji Miskin Pandai Sikek, detailing the mechanism from identification and selection to distribution and subsequent assistance. The qualitative case study approach effectively uncovers how this program contributes to enhancing mustahik's business capacity, income, and economic independence, thereby reinforcing the conceptual framework of productive zakat as an instrument of economic empowerment and broadening the understanding of the social role of BPRS in managing zakat funds. Methodologically, the study employs a rigorous qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation from five purposively selected informants. While this methodology allows for rich, nuanced data collection regarding the "how" and "why" of the program's impact, the limited sample size of five informants, though appropriate for an in-depth case study, inherently restricts the generalizability of the findings. The abstract notes "different levels of achievement" among recipients; a deeper exploration of the specific factors contributing to these disparities, beyond simply mentioning the need for continuous assistance, could have further enriched the analysis and provided more actionable recommendations for BPRS and other zakat institutions. Despite the localized nature of its findings, this research offers significant theoretical and practical contributions. Theoretically, it reinforces Islamic economic principles and expands the understanding of BPRS's role beyond conventional banking. Practically, the study's emphasis on continuous assistance highlights a critical success factor for optimizing productive zakat programs, providing valuable guidance for BPRS and other zakat management institutions aiming to enhance community economic empowerment. Overall, this paper serves as a strong empirical case study, shedding light on effective strategies for leveraging productive zakat to achieve sustainable mustahik welfare and offering a solid foundation for further research into the long-term impacts and scalability of such initiatives.
