Introduction

Akdeniz Çanağı Ülkelerinde turizm coğrafya eğitimi Üzerine bir bakış. Akdeniz ülkeleri (TR, ES, IT, PT) üniversitelerinde turizm coğrafya eğitimi ders içeriklerini karşılaştırmalı inceler. Sürdürülebilir turizm, kültürel ve bölgesel farklılıkları analiz eder.

Abstract

Turizm önemli küresel faaliyet olan aynı zamanda yerlerin ve destinasyonların dönüştürücü ve üretken rol oynayan en aktif etkenlerden biridir. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, bazı Akdeniz ülkeleri (Türkiye, İspanya, İtalya ve Portekiz) üniversitelerinde mevcut olan turizm coğrafya ders içeriklerini tespit etmek ve Akdeniz çanağındaki ülkelerle karşılaştırmalı analizini yapmaktır. Bu çalışmada nitel ve nicel yöntem birlikte kullanılmıştır. Nitel yöntem olarak içerik analizinden faydalanılmış, nicel yöntem olarak ise uyum analizi kullanılmıştır. Türkiye’den 93, İtalya 27, İspanya 26 ve Portekiz’den 6 bölümden 152 veri elde edilmiştir. Araştırmaya ait veriler Türkiye, İspanya, İtalya ve Portekiz üniversitelerinin web sitelerinden elde edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları değerlendirildiğinde Türkiye’de turizm coğrafyasına yönelik ders içerikleri Türkiye turizm bölgeleri ve Anadolu uygarlıkları konularının ilk sıralarda olduğu görülmektedir. İtalya üniversiteleri turizm coğrafya ders içeriklerinde ise sürdürülebilir turizm ve kültür turizmi konularının önemli olduğu görülmektedir. İspanya üniversiteleri turizm coğrafya ders içerikleri ise, İspanya turizmi/coğrafyası ve dünya coğrafyası konularının ilk sıralarda olduğu görülmektedir. Son olarak, Portekiz üniversiteleri turizm coğrafya ders içerikleri ise fiziki coğrafya ve destinasyon çeşitleri olduğu görülmektedir.

Data was meticulously collected from the official websites of universities in the selected countries, encompassing a substantial sample of 152 departmental programs (93 from Turkey, 27 from Italy, 26 from Spain, and 6 from Portugal). The findings reveal distinct thematic concentrations in tourism geography education across these nations. In Turkey, course content prominently features Turkish tourism regions and Anatolian civilizations. Italian universities prioritize sustainable and cultural tourism, while Spanish programs emphasize Spanish tourism/geography alongside broader world geography topics. Finally, Portuguese university curricula for tourism geography largely focus on physical geography and various destination types. The comparative nature of this study is a significant strength, offering valuable insights into the regional variations in tourism geography education within the Mediterranean basin. By highlighting these differences, the paper provides a crucial baseline for academics, policymakers, and curriculum developers to assess current educational strategies and identify areas for potential enhancement or harmonization. The findings suggest that educational priorities may reflect national tourism development strategies or historical academic traditions. This research makes a meaningful contribution to the literature by systematically mapping out existing curricula, thereby facilitating informed discussions on best practices, the integration of emerging trends like sustainability, and fostering a more globally relevant tourism education framework across these influential tourism destinations.
